“Our All-Stars”

This was a first for ADB because someone other than Adam took the creative lead. Director and writer Juwann Nelson was approached by GANGGANG and asked to create a video to kick off the 2024 NBA All-Star week at Bicentennial Plaza outside of Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The event would be hosted by Mike Epps and Tamika Catchings, featuring the likes of Oscar Robinson, Larry Bird, T-Pain and many more Indiana legends.

We started production the week before Christmas in 2023, giving us 6 weeks to deliver a final. The turnaround was very tight since we started all of this during the holidays. Regardless, Juwann’s passion for the narrative, along with our ability to be nimble, made for a smooth production. We relied on a smaller crew, allowing us to use our budget on better locations and the necessary tools to beef up the production value.

We had recently seen a piece edited by Calum Moore at Outsider Editorial in Toronto. We called them up to discuss a full-service run at post. They were artful and pragmatic with the post process, which was necessary given our tight window to deliver. They also brought in RedLab and Oso Audio for finalization, which really took this piece up a notch.

We’re from Indiana — we grew up hoops fans and still are hoops fans, so this was a special one for us. To quote Juwann’s perfect line from the copy, “Yeah, this Naptown, but we ain’t sleep.”
